Madonna to appear on home shopping channel

Comments

As if recent Madonna stories haven’t dominated enough media already, the singer is moving onto home shopping.

An interview with the Home Shopping Network’s Callie Northagen will air in three sections tonight, tomorrow and Sunday. The interview is unlikely to be quite as emotive as her recent Oprah appearance, as it is to promote the release of her sixth children’s book Too Good To Be True, the sequel to her 2003 bestseller The English Roses. The channel will send a portion of the proceeds from selling the book, to Raising Malawi, the orphan-care initiative to which Madonna is giving her own profits.

While the lack of cool involved here is impressive, it’s the sort of shrewd move we’ve come to expect from Madonna. The Home Shopping Network is the fourth biggest cable television network in the US, reaching 89 million households. Whether her image can bounce back from the tackiness of it is another matter entirely.

Has Madonna gone too far or can the Material Girl get away with anything?

  • Great! This proves Madonna can be slefless and altruistic when she is accused of everything else. Proceeds going to Malawi show she cares about the project and adopting David was pivotal to all the. Pay attention people, this isnt a fashion accessory, a fad, a gimmick. This is real life, someone with the ladyballs to stand up and take whatever steps are necessary to do what she can. If she used her status for anything it was for benevolence and not personal gain so good for you Madonna. Your fans love you and support you no matter what and because you strive forward in everything you do and do they not realise that all this controversy just adds to your popularity and fame? So i say carry on with the dissention cos its all helping!

  • What Madonna does in Malawi are acts of love and compassion. Press is abject. Madonna deserves all our admiration.

  • Go Madonna! You are doing a great service to baby David giving him a loving home with your two other children. The only people doing a diservice to David Banda are the media, its now time to leave madonna and family to get on with their lives! Praise to Madonna!
