Arcade Fire leak one of their own songs

Comments

The Arcade Fire found themselves in an unusual position this week – leaking one of their own songs onto the internet. In an age where record companies are increasingly wary of new tracks getting onto the Web, the art-rocking Canadians slipped up by uploading the wrong track. According to Gigwise.com, they were supposed to be releasing the song Intervention today (28 December), but somebody at their label Merge stuck up the second track off the new album, Black Wave / Bad Vibrations instead. The track remained there most of the day before being taken down. However, as the song was being made available to benefit the Partners In Health charity, singer Win Butler is keen that those that downloaded the rogue track should cough up.

“I guess it is sort of charming that we can send the wrong song to the whole world with the click of a mouse,” he says. “However, there will be a Paypal link up on www.arcadefire.com for those who have downloaded the songs without paying but still want to give money to PIH.org.”

The band’s new album Neon Bible is due in March next year.
