James Blunt is leading the British race for the prestigious GRAMMY awards, with nominations for Arctic Monkeys, Corinne Bailey Rae and Goldfrapp among the other UK artists.
The singer/songwriter has five nominations including Best New Artist, Record of the Year and Song of the Year for You're Beautiful and Best Male Pop Vocal Performance. The results will be announced at a ceremony in Los Angeles on February 11.
Competing with Blunt in the Best New Artist category are Imogen Heap and Corinne Bailey Rae, alongside R&B singer Chris Brown and country singer Carrie Underwood. Rae has also been nominated in the Record of the Year category for Put Your Records On.
In the wake of their US-only remix album We Are Glitter, Goldfrapp received nominations for Best Dance Recording for Ooh La La and Best Dance/Electronic Album for Supernature. Pet Shop Boys have two nominations, while Paul McCartney, Sting, David Gilmour and UB40 all have one.
R&B singer Mary J Blige leads the overall nominations with eight, followed by the Red Hot Chilli Peppers who have six, including album of the year for Stadium Arcadium.

God, that Blunt fellow never goes away. I used to be a squaddie and all officers were self opinionated pigs. In fact, if the class system in Britain is alive and well, it's in the divide between the poor old grunts and the privelidged officers - most of whom don't know their anuses from their arm articulations.
