Date set for new Guns N'Roses album

Comments

Axl Rose has announced that the long-awaited Guns N'Roses album Chinese Democracy will be out on March 6 after a 13 year wait.

This is the first time Axl's given anything approaching a release date for the album, which has cost a reported $13 million, and he's cancelled a few US dates to finish working on the album. In October, his management hinted that Chinese Democracy would be released before Christmas ("There are only 13 Tuesdays left") but given the wait fans have already endured, three months more seems comparatively light.

In an open letter to the group's fans, Rose said: "To say the making of this album has been an unbearably long and incomprehensible journey would be an understatement. Overcoming the endless and seemingly insanity of the obstacles faced by all involved, not withstanding the emotional challenges endured by everyone: the fans, the band, our road crew and business team has at many times seemed for all like a bad dream where one wakes up only to find they are still in the nightmare and unfortunately this time it has been played out for over a decade in real life.

"(...)In the end it's just an album and one that I, the band, our record company and all involved believe and feel is a true Guns N'Roses album. Ultimately the public will decide and regardless of the outcome our hearts, lives and our passion has been put into this project every step of the way. If for no other reason we feel those elements alone merit your consideration. We do hope you can hold on just a bit longer and if not we hope you would please feel free to take a break and we'll be more than glad (if you so choose) to see you again later."

Are you excited about the new album or has the band missed the boat? Tell us what you think.

  • Yes I'm excited. Yes it's taken a long time but so what, there is enough music out there from other band to keep us occupied. No use in crying over this like a two year old.

  • Im really excited. I mean its taken a long time but its really hard to follow up Appetite and the illusions. Ultimately i guarantee this album will be worth the wait.

  • Completely excited.... what I have heard of the new material sounds great.... I also believe that the best music from the cd is not even being played live yet and can probably not be played well live. Coma was played 3 times total live and that song is amazing... but hard to perform. Funny that the other band members hated the song. That makes me very excited to see what Axl has pulled off this time round.

  • Poor little Axl
All he ever does is try and please his fans.
BY showing up, when most concerts end
    Saying forsure it's 2006
Canceling a gig this summer to put thje LAST touch on his masterpiece.
Having managment who screw him around, and dont help, only hinder the release process.
Amazingly announce a date that's after the world tour ends, and knew it all along.
He's trying oh so hard people. Give him a break!
I mean his managment have been pushing him around, like the old gang did. Geffen records is pushing him to. Fans also.
All this equals is a tour he made enough money on to go hide away and perfect it for 15 more years. Colon Oscopy is it's releasing title. I have heard enough, Im done with him!

  • This album is going to be wonderful, like everything else axl does. And it is so cool he is putting out on his birthday.

  • It's not Guns n Roses. It's Axl Rose and a bunch of other guys.

  • Ultimately, I reckon the album probably won't be worth the wait. But what album thats taken 13 years to make would? I'd be excited about this album if it was the original line-up playing on it. I saw axl playing with "guns n roses" at leeds in '02 and it was a great gig, the only downpoint was the new material they played. So far, only "Oh My God" has sounded any good. I'm a big fan of GNR and Axl but after all this time I feel all this album will do is disappoint fans of the original band and new listeners alike.

  • Axl a-t-il encore la verve et le talent ?
Est-il encore le songwriter de folie ?
Et sans Slash, la guitare est ou ?

    A voir...
