The next step in the world’s most Perfectly Normal Adoption, the Malawi high court has allowed human rights groups to get a court to review Madonna’s adoption of David Banda. All perfectly normal, then.
According to the Daily Mirror, a judge ruled that a number of organisations who are currently working together should be allowed to examine the process Madonna went through. David Banda will not be immediately affected by the order, as Justin Dzonzi, the groups’ lawyer, said they wanted clarification.
"We are not saying that David should come back, but rather help change the law and assist the court to make a proper decision on whether to grant Madonna full adoption rights," he explained.
Madonna's lawyer Alan Chinula, speaking from the country's capital Lilongwe said, "The Ritchies called me from London and I explained to them the ruling ... they have no problem with the ruling and are also willing to sit back and wait."
Does Madonna's adoption deserve this scrutiny? Or should she be left alone to get on with it? Tell us here.
