Kylie "too busy" for Glastonbury

Comments

Despite long-standing rumours saying Kylie would be headlining Glastonbury this year, festival organisers have said that she will be too busy to play.

Despite Michael Eavis saying earlier this year that he was "very hopeful" that Kylie would headline, Emily Eavis told BBC 6 Music"It's not going to happen". The singer had "a lot of touring up her sleeve".

The singer was due to play in Glastonbury 2005 but had to cancel when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Now her touring schedule is apparently too heavy to fit in a stop at the festival.

"I think if she was going to do Glastonbury, she'd rework her show and I don't think it's going to be possible in that time frame," Emily Eavis said, before denying that The Killers or Muse would make headline appearances: "We've got really good stuff coming in. But there's not going to be dominating headliners."

No Kylie? Who'd you like to see headlining Glasto?

  • Now it's possible to see cartoon characters on stage (Gorillaz), could someone organise a gig with The Beatles or perhaps Pink Floyd (+Syd Barrett)?

Alternatively, how about Depeche Mode? They've been around a bit!

  • In reply to andrew:

    1) The people BEHIND the cartoon characters can play as they have done on tours before.
    2) The Beatles? With only two of them left? Nah.
    3) Pink Floyd? No chance. Plus Syd kicked the bucket a few months ago.

I, personally, can see Radiohead having a big chance at headlining. Their new album will probably be out by then and on their last tour this year they played numerous festivals. Plus they've played their twice in the past ('97 and '03). The list is endless.

I put my money on the magnificent Radiohead.

  • Tom Waits should definitely play. I'd love to see Sheryl Crow and Pearl Jam play there but we'll probably end up with Oasis and McCartney again!

  • I agree, I'd love to see Tom Waits at Glasto - not headlining, but in one of the more intimate indoor venues. Headlining - who else but Prince! (and a guest slot from Kylie!)

  • How about the Red Hot Chili Peppers? They haven't done Glastonbury before to my knowledge. And they rock! Keane would be good though.
