Procol Harum organist Matthew Fisher has won his High Court battle claiming that he wrote White Shade Of Pale.
The classic song has been credited to lead singer Gary Brooker and lyricist Keith Reid for nearly 40 years, until Fisher went to court saying that he wrote the distinctive organ melody and claiming a backlog of the royalties which were frozen six years ago as well as a share in any future income.
The song, released in 1967, was a global number one hit. Fisher said he was inspired by classical composer Bach but that he also had "his own ideas in his head."
