• This movie needs young to play the characters. Justine Timberlake has proven acting skills but no real roles as of date. He could really pull off a Kurt of the 90's and attract the younger crowd who never attended a deafening Nirvana concert.

• Um, Kurt died (lkilled by Courtney) when he was 27. Depp is 40 something! Ewan is about 35 too. An unknown or an up and coming actor. I'm a massive Kurt fan but I would love to see this. He was incredible and no-one has been as cool since. Sadly.

• Johnny Depp is looking pretty fit for 40odd though! He's a great actor too and has had a few characters with deep histories and played them brilliantly. I think if this film does get made (whether it should or not is a different question) Kurt deserves a good actor to play him at least!

• i saw a new band the other day called The Xcerts from Scotland. a, they were really good, young and fresh, but b, the singer looked incredibly like a young Kurt Cobain

  dunno if the kid could act but thought it was worth mentioning as would like to see them choose someone good.

  think johnny depp would be great, just have to pull a good make up job, but kurt looked way old towards the end anyway cos of the dope

• i like the bill murray comment! i don't agree with johnny depp, putting aside the age factor...he doesnt look anything like kurt cobain! come on. its not up to us anyway, i'm just hoping for the best. i think last days was so great, no movie could top that, i mean the way it explored the inside frustration of a damned musician comes so close to who kurt cobain really was (at least to the extent we can interpret him based on what is left in his music and art). although this movie was only based on cobain, no based on facts movie could top that and it leaves me skeptical and it probably will once i see it. but thats just what i think.

  The cops in Seattle and the media in general hated grunge and its leaders. Punk was already assimilated, but this grunge movement posed a real threat; it was a "bore from within," philosophy not a dropout strategy, but an alternative world concept. Cobain, all by himself, had the Seattle establishment by the balls and got a kick out of watching his neighbors jaws drop when he moved into the swank lakeside neighborhood. That kind of radicalism really scares the establishment, always has and always will...

  But Kurt was already a target for the police. He was well known for saying, "Vandalism: Beautiful as a rock in a cop's face." So the local police had [contempt] for him or for what they perceived as his "pseudo poverty." Look what Todd Rungren and Andy Rooney said about Cobain. Look at all the Deadheads who said good riddance. Here we have this fallen king, and nobody is looking at the real evidence because everybody wants to believe he blew his face off.
  Whoever killed him was counting on that.

• If there is going to be a new and a better Kurt Cobain movie it should really include Nirvana and I think it should begin with Kurts younger years like when he was spray painting "GOD IS GAY" on people that pissed him of trucks and fucking around at parties and doing drugs......

• Here's how it should go... The movie should be directed by someone like Oliver Stone. This should be an art film. Something like "The Doors" meets "Sid & Nancy."The actors should be as follows...
  1. Kurt Cobain-- Edward Furlong: The right age, attitude, he looks like a junkie and with long blonde hair and a 5 O'clock shadow I believe he could pull off a pretty convincing Kurt.
  2. Courtney Love-- Brittany Murphy: Again, The right age, attitude, she looks like a junkie and can pull off that courtney look better than anyone else.
  3. Dave Grohl-- Scott Patrick Green: He played one of Blakes musician friends in Gus Van Sant's Last Days. He surprisingly looks like and could pull off a great Dave Grohl.

• If you look at pictures of Jared Leto you'll notice that he resembles Kurt more than anyone else. His attitude & style are also very similar. The guy is not only an actor but he's also a musician so it won't take much for him to get into that role. He may even be a Kurt fan already so who better than a fan to play him (assuming he is)?

• I strongly believe that this should not be chosen lightly. Fuck all these stars already. There is someone out there, unknown, to be perfect for the part of Kurdt. There is always someone's twin... I would be very satisfied if the person that played the role of Kurdt was of the brilliance in which Val Kilmer played Jim Morrison. Someone with the absolute appreciation of Kurdt and Nirvana. I know I am not alone in the opinion.

• I think it's a bit strange that we are all looking forward to something which Kurt would have hated. He hated the fact the people obsessed over him and hated the media attention- so I don't think he would be very pleased. Although, I do think it will be a good movie- and I respect Courtney, so I think she will do a good job. I heard she wants Scarlett Johannsen to play her in the film and Ryan Gosling to play Kurt.

• Jared Leto actually would be a good fit to play Cobain. He has similar enough features (same 5'10 height, thin, intense eyes and I have seen him with similar hair and facial hair), and has the acting chops and music abilities to pull it off. Kurt died at 27, so Jared is a tad older but it's not a noticeable difference. I'd watch that movie.
