Lily Allen is battling Amy Winehouse for the best British female artist at the 2007 Brit Awards, while leading the nominations pack with four.
Winehouse’s having the current number 1 album may well have helped her chances, with Ladbrokes putting her as favourite with odds of 5/4 (a nod to her current number 1 album?) while Allen is at 4/1.
Allen was also nominated best British album, best British breakthrough act, and best single for Smile, which will to be voted for by the public.
Best British male nominees include Thom York for his solo album Eraser, as well as Lemar and Jarvis Cocker newcomers and James Morrison and Paolo Nutini (favourite at 2/1). Cocker, who notoriously showed up Michael Jackson at the 1996 awards said, “I think I deserved it, but then I am a very egotistical person."

Why no nod to arguable the best international band of this year- My Chemical Romance?
And Lily Allen? Some mouthy chav whose rise to fame has nothing to do with her father has it?

Is it just me or is music getting worse, the best thing here is probably muse but thats too easy, so failing that it must be the scissor sisters.
Its almost all regurgitated boring rubbish.
And to the my chemical romance fan, they are a pile of poo

I so hope George Michael gets best live act. He put off touring for so long and when he did he had such rave reviews from the press and the public and of course from his fans.
I went to see his opening night and last night in Wembley and he was fantastic!

My Chemical BLOWmance.
I hope Thom Yorke wins for Male vocal, Beck too. I have a feeling that Gnarls will win international group when it should be Flaming Lips or Red Hot Chili Peppers. OH! and Go Raconteurs!

I think Lily Allen's lyrics are pretty good in an Ian Dury style. She deserves to win

Both Amy and Lily have been a breath of fresh air in my year of music. I just can't choose. But when it comes to the Live Acts there is absolutely no question that George Michael deserve to win. Nevermind the records - he is an amazing live performer.
