Morrissey has expressed outrage at the inclusion of "mad Irish" singers who have received New Years honours over the years and says he's much more deserving, according to BreakingNews.ie.
While admitting that his choice of song titles (The Queen Is Dead) might render his own chances of receiving an OBE or MBE slim to non-existent, the singer objected to some of those named in the 2007 list..
"Just look at who has been honoured already," he said. "Mad Irish singer Daniel O'Donnell has an MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) and obese Jamie Oliver has an OBE (Officer of the Order of the British Empire)."
On second thoughts Mozzer, slagging off the competition probably won't endear you any more.
Who do you think should be honoured? Tell us what you think.

Dead right Morrissey! Though your own chances are pretty slim. Never saw the point of an Irish person being honoured by the Queen, being Irish myself it seems a bit wierd. Especially in light of Bono's back catalogue (Sunday Bloody Sunday?); seems he has a very short memory. Now he can genuinely "Lord" it over everyone even more than normal (sorry...)

Morrissey is a VERY arrogant man.
It is only the GREAT and the GOOD that are awarded by the Queen.
Most people are unassuming and humbled if they have an OBE or MBE or another award.
If Morrissey had done his home work properly, he would have known that Daniel O'Donnell was awarded his MBE because his fans wrote to Prince Charles asking him to give Daniel this special award.
Daniel does a lot of charity work and this along with the fact that he greets his fans after each and every show is a another good reason why he is so popular with everyone.
Unlike Morrissey, Daniel doesn't put other artists down or shout about what he should or shoundn't have. Yes, he is VERY deserving of his award.
My advice to Morrissey would be this.
If you are worthy of any award then this will happen someday. The fact that you haven't received anything yet is because you have not earned this.
Why not try being kind to your fellow artists and taking the time out to greet your fans after your shows. Maybe if you have the time you could also put your spare time to good use and help out a charity.
This is much better I think than shouting from the roof tops, "oh poor me!"

Why are my youthful hero's disappointing me lately? First off, seeing Noel Gallagher meander off the stage at The Forum recently in Melbourne after only an hour to a rousing chorus of booing because he refused to play an encore. And now Mozza, bothering to comment on such and outmoded, outdated wankfest of an antiquity such as the New Years Honours list. C'mon Mozz. You're now officially a Pratt.
Yes.
With a capital P.

Mozz, why bother, my cat is half a chance of an OBE. The Queen IS dead. And, seriously, who is Daniel O'Donnell? I had to "google" him. Looks like Mark Waugh when he was dating some old bird in the early 90's. To UKPete, I too had the misfortune of watching Noel Gallagher walking off after a mediocre one hour set in Melbourne. Another has been.

Daniel O'Donnell?
The following is from Wiki:
"O'Donnell is frequently satirised in Irish comedy because of a common supposition that his target audience consists mainly of rural ladies of a certain age ("mammies")."
Nuff said.

He's taking the piss fools!!!!!
anyone who knows Morrissey at all knows he would no more stuff big macs down his throat than would accept a laughable meaningless accolade of a pointless outdated institution. Just keep giving them to "the great and the good". Its nothing more than a PR execrise for royal family and it stinks. Who with a brain would want be honored by the British empire? its a joke.
