Following news that Rage Against The Machine were to reform for the Coachella festival, Chris Cornell has announced that he's leaving Audioslave for good, citing the usual irreconcilable differences.
"Due to irresolvable personality conflicts as well as musical differences, I am permanently leaving the band Audioslave. I wish the other three members nothing but the best in all of their future endeavours."
Other members of the band - guitarist Tom Morello, bassist Tim Commerford and drummer Brad Wilk - will join former RATM singer Zack De La Rocha to play Coachella in April.

To me - Audioslave always sucked... These three guys without Zack but with Cornell are like the rest of Queen without Freddie Mercury and with Paul Rogers instead... Yes, the same sound, but... If RATM will not only reform for concerts but for studio recording it would be awesome...

I believe that this is a sad loss with the split of audioslave as we know it. However every cloud has a silver lining and i feel that the reformation of RATM can outweigh the morning of Audioslave.

Cornell was the best thing in that band. I dont care what happens with rage or audioslave as long as Cornell still releases some new music

whilst audioslave had a few good songs (cochise and be yourself especially) they had always looked shaky. whilst rage had not only the message but the extensive back catalogue of amazing songs, the loss of audioslave pales in comparison.

Have never liked Audioslave to be honest, Rage are far superior, if they release another album that would be the best music news in ages!!

It's a shame Audioslave split, they made some incredible music. This won't be a popular statement, but Rage are very much a one trick pony. The 1st album was undoubtedly brilliant...but it was all the same after that, and just not as good. Cornell's voice with their music was such a good partnership. But hey...no one died and they're all still making music, that's the way I look at it.

Audioslave seemed to me to produce very benign, generic-sounding rock music, and I'm not at all sad to see them break up. Hopefully RATM reunites and hits the studio again, because they produced meaningful, insightful music that was - to disagree with the poster who called them a "one-trick pony" - consistently good.

Rage's music was just so repetitive! The same formula all accross their 3 albums of original material. How boring!

I thought Audioslave was great! It was like the best parts of RATM and Soundgarden, and it matched! I couldn't believe it at first, but they actually pulled it off. I always thought it was too good to be true actually. I never believed for a second it would last. That's why they made so many albums as fast as they could, they knew it too! Despite the breakup, I'll be happy to hear from RATM again!
As for Chris Cornell, I think he should stick to his greatest skill... songwriting. I'm not too impress with his solo track for Casino Royale. Let'snot forget that he's been solo before. It didn't do that great, but he was on another soundtrack for Great Expectations. Great song, that's all I remember. So who knows, maybe we'll see a Soundgarden reunion?!

audioslave was beat... rage will most def outwiegh them if they come back... they outweighed them when audioslave formed.. but it would be sweet if they were together for good and not just this one concert or atleast to make a new cd...

RATM - great music but limited by Rocha's lack of singing ability. Audioslave - didn't Cornell decribe his time with Audioslave as his most creative period ever? What does this tell you? That the influence of Cornell far outweighed Rocha's input with RATM. Cornell vs Rocha = man against boy, both vocally and lyrically. Some one in the Audioslave camp should seriously bang some heads together! Soundgarden reunion would also be fantastic though!

Its a great shame that audioslave split, as i thought the three albums they produced were very impressive. However saying its man against boy is just plain ridiculous, they have two completely different styles, zach rap's mostly, and cornell sings. But i have to say if ratm do reform i think the world could do with a good dose of zach's politically fiery lyrics, one area that cornell just doesn't have any strength im afraid.
Thats all folks
From a Audioslave and RATM fanatic!

It's a good thing cause audioslave is no good, RATM is still the best and its really good that they unite again after all, UNITY is what they are fighting for...

You people are retarded. Audioslave is FAR better then Rage... I like Rage, but I can't get over his rapping... It just isn't music. Now Chris, HE can sing. He's amazing. He's what turned something great into something sublime. Anyone who thinks that Rage is better then Audioslave either hasn't listened to enough of their stuff, or enjoys rapping better then singing which, quite frankly, is terrible. Audioslave>Soundgarden>RATM.
