While we at Q are generally big fans of having money thrown our way, it didn't work out so well for Bloc Party on Sunday.
The band had to put a temporary hold on their Sunday Aberdeen show two songs into their set after singer Kele Okoreke was hit by a coin.
They soon started up again, but it took the shine off an excellent week for the band during which they were added to the line-up for Al Gore's forthcoming Climate Change gigs, and reached number 12 in the US album chart.
Historically, getting up onstage can be a perilous affair. Only last weekend Q witnessed Rou Reynolds, frontman with new-rave punks Enter Shikari, get hit square in the face by a glowstick hurled from the moshpit. It reminded us of some other memorably confrontational gigs. In 2005, Iron Maiden were pelted with eggs during their headline set at the San Bernadino, California leg of the US Ozzfest festival. It turned out the attack had been masterminded by Sharon Osbourne herself ("I had a blast," she later cackled).
Reading has been the site if many such incidents. Only last year Panic! at The Disco frontman Brendon Urie was floored by a projectile hurled from the moshpit. The tradition can be traced back to 1985, when both Meat Loaf and Bonnie Tyler were sent packing from Reading's main stage by a combination of mud and 'piss bombs'. That year, Meat Loaf fueled his assailants' ire with a memorably ill-advised taunt.
"Are you people here to enjoy the music?" bellowed the corpulent rocker. "Or are you just gonna stand there and throw shit?" Big mistake. The sky instantly turned black with massed missiles.
Can you think of any more examples from rock history?

'undermined by a Scottish audience member'- and if the same happened in England, would the headline read English audience memeber'?, What is/isn't suitable? black, Welsh, Asian, Irish, audience member. Q, it was an audience member- don't start playing nationalistic games.
