Elvis Presley fans in Hawaii will soon be able to worship at a life-sized statue of the singer, who immortalised the islands in the film Blue Hawaii.
"Elvis remains an idol and a hero to so many of us. And because of his time spent here, Hawaii considers him an adopted son," said Honolulu Mayor Mufi Hannemann. "Elvis will forever remain a part of Hawaii's identity - from his film Blue Hawaii to his 1961 benefit performance to raise money for the USS Arizona Memorial to the historic concert which the sculpture commemorates."
The King will be remade in bronze and wearing his iconic flared multi-jewelled outfit to mark the site of his 1973 concert Elvis: Aloha From Hawaii and the 30th anniversary of Presley's death. The concert remains popular: it's gone platinum five times over.
Who would you make a statue off? And would you make it wear bronze rhinestones?

There are a great many beautiful bronze and marble statues of Elvis, as far away as Tokyo, Israel, UK, USA, and Cyprus etc.

I cannot think of another person who deserves a statue more than Elvis. He was the Greatest Singer/Performer who ever lived and there will never be another like him. Other performers look silly in jumpsuits and rhinestones but they looked terrific on The King.

I live in Argentina and have been an Elvis fan since Elvis shook the world in 1956. Elvis is the greatest singer of all times and deserves the recognition of the whole world. This statue to be built in Hawaii is part of the recognition Elvis deserves. LONG LIVE THE KING!!!

All the statues in the world and all the `tribute` artists put together, cannot even scratch the surface.
He was like a Greek God that could "sing like nobody", yet, sing for everybody.
