Justin Hawkins competes for Eurovision

Comments

Fans of ironic musical disasters, raise your arms to the sky and say "AMEN" very loudly. Following the BBC's announcement that Morrissey would not be involved in this year's Eurovision contest comes the news that ex-Darkness singer Justin Hawkins has been signed up as one of the six finalists to represent the UK.

In fact it looks like the UK might actually be trying to send someone good (read; not shit) to this year's competition in Finland, because former East 17 star Brian Harvey, ex-Atomic Kitten Liz McClarnon, and hip-hop group Big Brovaz are also in the final six, and as far as we know they can all actually sing. Whether newcomer Cyndi can is yet to be seen, but "thought they were dead and kind of wished they were" reformed pop quartet Scooch certainly can't.

The public will vote for their favourite in Eurovision: Making Your Mind Up, to be shown on BBC One next month.

We're lost for words. Tell us what you think, immediately.

  • Ummmm...Is there a good act among them. I love Eurovision and I know it is supposed to be a bit rubbish and camp, but seriously Britain is supposed to be musically sophisticated. Can't we do any better then this shower of shit???

  • The Eurovision is a joke. It is the ghastliest music event in a world full of ghastly music. Terry Wogan commented that Britain will never win it again as they've bombed to many countries. I say we just give up entering it then.
