Oasis and The Smiths on UK rock map

Comments

Oasis and The Smiths join The Beatles in a new map of Britain marking out areas of musical significance.

The map, created by tourism company VisitBritain, is aimed at increasing interest in internal tourism and features places like the Good Mixer pub in Camden, home to most Britpop bands and currently Amy Winehouse's chosen armrest.

Laurence Bresh, the general manager for VisitBritain, said: "We know there's huge interest in locations connected to popular culture.

"Everybody knows about tourists going to Liverpool to visit The Beatles locations, but it's much wider than that. People like to see the places that have inspired musicians - Oasis is the obvious one, Berwick Street (in London) where they shot the cover for '(What's The Story) Morning Glory'."

  • Wouldn't mind taking a tour of Robbie Williams' place, preferably on one of those nights when he's sloshed and running around the yard naked...
