• I still think its one of their best songs. The album is not that bad it still has many classics. Still the biggest moment in music history since the Beatles. For that build up period to Be Here Now, Oasis were biggest band on the planet, still the best!

  As for be here now i personally think its a great album. It's only the critics who beg to differ... At the time of the realse this album had loads of praise but when the hype died down it got so much backlash.

  Be here now is overlooked by the first two albums which is ashame... as the album does hold some really good tunes.

• its probably theyr weakest work to date but at the time it could have only been a classic! No other band since the beatles where at such a high!! i mean they sold like 700.000 copies in 3 days so be here now is still the fastest selling album in british history!!

• There is nothing wrong with Be Here Now or Standing on the shoulders as far as I'm concerned. I only got into Oasis a few years ago, after all the madness, and I can't think of any music by any band that is quite as good. Both Be Here Now, and Standing have the coolest first songs of any album by any band I can think of. Who cares about whether the lyrics are fucking Shakesworth. It's brilliant music, with some of Liam's best vocals ever. Top album from a top band!

• c'mon guys! they gave us two great albums and then lost theyre steam fer the two following. be here now has some decent stuff on it. aside from the goofy crap like magic pie. so what if it was a drug infested pile of hoopajoop. it was a lemon among oranges. iwhat made it not quite as good as the two previous was mostly the stigma surrounding it. i mean how do ya follow up whats the story morning glory?

• The album has a number of great tunes, but the production is simply too bloated and the songs drag on too long--e.g., All Around The World, which would've been killer had it ended at the 4 minute mark.

• The Oasis supposed failures of Oasis stand miles above the successes of every other band. The Arctic Monkeys, Kasabian, The Who, and even The Rolling Stones don't have the entire albums that Oasis have. I challenge you to go song by song on every album and pick the songs you don't want to skip. Oasis only has a few songs in their entire catolouge that you'll skip. Most bands have 3 good songs on their entire CD.
  The one album Oasis put out that is just Good is Standing On The Shoulders of Giants and even it has several good songs on it. Here's the track listing for

  half of this album is great. Some of the songs are just ridiculous with all the guitars, but the others are great....

• I'm Australian pretty much a massive fan of Oasis, and believe this album was good and has about 5 songs that I like on it. Now conisider that I brought a Kings of Leon cd recently and there were only 2 or maybe 3 songs on that album I like, (which is pretty much the amount of songs I like on Standing on the Shoulder of Giants. ). Other than that their other 5 Albums (yes I'm counting Masterplan) seem to be 5 of the best most enjoyable albums I have ever listened to Noel is a genious songwriter and Gem and Andy are good and Liam seems to be going alright. So hopefully their next album when ever it is released is goinbg to be worth this long wait

• It's a great song, and Be Here Now is still better than just about anything else of the last 20 years. The reaction of the Japanese in the video is enough to make it worth watching. I saw Oasis live on their last tour and they're by far the best band in the world today. LIVE FOREVER!

• I loved that album from the first listen and still do now. Don't Go Away is one my favorite oasis songs - its been my ringtone for some time now and whenever people hear it - they ask what is it... then again i live in the US! Also in heavy rotation here from this album is the song "All Around the World". A major cellular service provider uses it for all their national tv and radio spots. I get so happy every time i hear it! Its like 1997 all over again!

• Oasis sadly to say will never be as great as first 2 albums. This is good, love Dont go away. Oasis was biggest in wolrd in 97, i remember as i'm from Chile and the relase of Be Here Now was huge. Not so big now and not much news. Us poor Chileans are now lumped with rubbish like Coldplay and all that rubbish American stuff!

• obivously albums like 'Definitely Maybe' and '...Morning Glory' are goin 2 be killer to follow up, especially with all the hype surrounding the scene. although not their best by a long way, i still dont think it deserves its reputation as a poor album. i think to some extent critics turned on it because it was so popular, to create a new buzz and then an eventual revamp of british music in the 90s. 'D'Ya Know What I Mean', 'All Around The World', 'Fade In/Out' are up there with 'Stand By Me' and 'Dont Go Away' as immense songs, and the crazier moments on the album like 'Magic Pie' still provide joy when listening. For people who were coked up throughout the making of the album - and this to be considered the bands worst effot - shows the calibre of Oasis. Many bands would kill for the 'lazy' lyrics of Noel Gallagher, and they still remain a prominent force in British music today.

• I absolutely loved this album from the first time I heard it. I'll never understand why people slagged off this one, and standing on the the shoulders. There are many great bands, but not one that makes so many great songs on each album. I just love every second of it. Nobody else does that for me. except the guys at www.fortifyband.com. Oasis were and are the best band ever as far as I'm concerned. The fact that theiy're still around is proof of their genuinity. Live forever.

• It's the second best Oasis album. Magic Pie - ace. Fade In/Out - Wanted Dead or Alive for the 90's. D'ya Know What I Mean - awesome. I hate All Around The World and that's it. Apart from that song it's a screamer. Far superior to Definitely Maybe.

• Oasis = overrated. 'Be Here Now' was as good as morning glory, it's just that people realised that morning glory was really bad as well and therefore Oasis were/are an exceptionally overrated boring and bland band, who are still trying to live in the past when they were (unexplicably) popular.

I personally think this is a great album, pity about how long the songs are, and there is quite a bit of helicopter sounds, but all in all i think it's far superior to standing on the shoulder.. and there is no doubt that oasis are one of the best bands of all time, with a rock and roll attitude that is slowly dissapearing for pansies who want to be seen as good dads, and lack that arrogance that i think makes a rock star.

In addition to that comes the music. I still havn't heard one Coldplay album that doesn't bore me to death. I love some of their songs, but i can't listen to a whole album. Same with Kaisers, Monkeys, you name it. Oasis on the other hand are fucking mega from start to finish on everything they've ever done. Even their "poorer" work is head and shoulders above anything else out there, so sod off you jerk-off.

I am really sorry that you seemed to take such exception about my opinion, an opinion that in a free and open society I am entitled to hold, but getting so worked up as you have done I'm not so sure I'm allowed to have it now. Maybe there are a few taboo subjects out there and maybe Oasis are that subject. but I will always think of them as an overhyped, overrated, bland, boring and derivative bunch.

  I'm sorry but there is absolutely nothing real about Oasis. They are a band who knows how to play the media perfectly. Have you noticed how they only bitch about fellow musicians when they have something to sell? and I've never been convinced that things like walking off tours and Sibling Rivalry has been nothing more than publicity stunts...

• Ok Paul, you're entitled to your opinion. I shouldn't have called you a fucking wanker. I'm just really tired of people slagging off Oasis for no reason. I got into them way after all the hype. It was just the music for me, and it's just head and shoulders above anything else i've heard. The first time I heard "Hello" I was just blown away. All used to Coldplay as I was. Don't get me wrong, I like Coldplay, just not for much at a time. And by the way: Bands get interviews when they have new stuff out. THAT'S why oasis only slag others off when they have a new album. I mean, they're just being honest. I also think System of a down is absolute rubbish.
  Great album from history's best band.

• this was at a time when the brothers were flying(literally) but nothing can be as worse as 'little james' on 'standing'. that IS the worst oasis tunes ever(after hey now). the fact that we ARE ALL STILL DEBATING this album to this day shows its jekyl and hyde qualities. rip roaring opening and 'better man' is a tune. i suppose its subjective. all i know is that it pxxxed on blurs offerings late on.

• I live in Tasmania Australia. Myself and my houemates all bought this the day it came out, cranked it up and partied. It was awesome turned up to ten. The problem is that the production is ridiculous and really only works played very loud. It hides the many great songs on it.

• I still enjoy listening to Be Here Now 10 years on, mainly due to the fact people don't make albums like that anymore. It was the last big overblown rock and roll album, no one except oasis would/can make an album like this in this day and age of polished production and commercialism. Oasis were back then a real band, and as much as the new line up is better technically and sonically, they have lost that edge they had with (most) of the original members, but hey if they went on like that with all the drink and drunks they would be a mess! Oasis (the Gallaghers) just grew up, and Be Here Now was them in their prime having it, which for me makes it a great record for that on it's own!

• I think Oasis is a terrific band through and through and while Definitely Maybe and What's The Story? are great albums, I feel that Be Here Now is easily the best album in their catalog and a masterpiece among rock albums. I get chills when I listen to it all the way through. I don't understand why others don't feel the same way as I do. Probably because people tend to lack objectivity. Just because this was the time when the craziness in the group began does not mean that their artistry suffered. They should be proud of this one.

• This album is awesome. Come to think of it, Oasis have only really done four or five bad songs out of what, 150? It shows how great a band they are when they've managed to retain their place in the top 3 or 4 biggest bands in the world for a good 14 years now. As for Don't Go Away, I think Liam's vocals on this song are perhaps his best ever. I also think its one of the best things Oasis have ever done - this album is my favourite Oasis album

• Some of the songs should have been shorter. I wouldn't change a thing about D'You Know What I mean? or My Big Mouth. I think we could have used one more Noel tune, or maybe Stay Young on that album, could have been a single, and IHITIK should have been a B-side. The Fame or Flashbax should have been an A-side. I would shorten Magic Pie, Fade In-Out, It's Gettin' Better, and AATW, and get rid of the stray chorus here or there. I'm a fan of an extra verse over an extra chorus any day.

  I still have fond memories of this album and the time in which it was released. Great album! Problem was, they didn't have ONE US-released CD single. I had to buy D'You Know What I Mean?, Stand By Me, AATW, and Don't Go Away as British or Japanese imports (I would have bought them anyway for the B-sides alone, but why no US releases at the height of their fame?). Sony should have done them right and released a couple singles in the US other than just radio/promo-only.

• "I hope I think i know" was the first song i put on when I baught this album, and to this day, more than 10 years on, I firmly think it is the song that defines oasis. Does any oasis fan fell this as well, its easily liams best vocal, I cant understand why no-one really takes to this tune.Shoulda been the first single.I love this album, becasue it was my first oasis album, and no-one makes, or would be allowed to make these sort of albums anymore...

• This album is fantastic. This is Rock-n-Roll, as in, "I know it's only Rock-n-Roll, but I like it, Rock-n-Roll". If you group all the "b-sides" with the rest of the songs in a playlist, it becomes evident that Noel was going through a huge surge of creative power. As for the lyrics to Don't Go Away: The line, "Damn my education, I can't find the words to say" sum it up. People who say they hate Oasis are generally music snobs or those who don't really like ROCK-N-ROLL (but think they do).

• There's some really solid stuff on Be Here Now. I have to rank it fifth behind obviously Morning Glory, Definitely Maybe, Dig Out Your Soul and Don't Believe the Truth. Noel even gave in and allowed My Big Mouth to be on their setlist now though with a different though great guitar track.

  Let the jealous Haters be. They can't stand Oasis catalog is absolutely loaded and that their one of the most important rock bands in history. To compare them to Blur is such an insult. Artists would kill to have Oasis B-side compilation alone as their greatest hits album.

  The part I hate most is that Girlicious gets radioplay instead of Oasis single Shock Of The Lightning and the soon to be No. 1 Oasis UK hit #11 - I'm Outta Time.

  FJ, you do realize Noel composed every song until Heathen Chemistry meaning Bere Here Now is completely his creation.

• Be Here Now is unbelievably underated - Try and listen to it without thinking about the reviews - or who sings it - or in what circumstances it was recorded - and you may be surprised by the outcome. Top album. 5*'s.
