Johnny Marr writes song for Crowded House

Comments

Crowded House return in July with their first studio album in 11 years - and ex-Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr has co-written one of the songs.

The indie legend helped Crowded House mainman Neil Finn compose album track Even A Child, and also contributes guitar work to the Melbourne-based band's lead-off single Don't Stop Now. The album, entitled Time On Earth, is released on July 2.

It's been a busy year for Johnny Marr. He appeared on Modest Mouse's recent album We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank, and is now an official member of the band (indeed that album represents the first time he's been involved in a US Number 1). He also recently teamed up with former Smiths bandmate Andy Rourke for a cancer research benefit concert at Manchester MEN Arena.

However, this is not the first time Marr has collaborated with Neil Finn. The pair have known each other for years. Here's some rare footage of them onstage together at London's tiny Borderline venue, back in 2000.
