Madonna and more for Live Earth

Madonna, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Keane and Foo Fighters are just some of the artists that have been announced for this summer’s Live Earth shows. The charity event will be held at Wembley Stadium on 7 July, as part of a 24-hour, 7-continent series of concerts designed to highlight the problem of climate change. Seventeen of the London artists have been announced – they are:

More acts will be announced at a later date and the line-up for the US leg of the event is expected later today. Other shows are to take place in Sydney, Rio de Janeiro, Johannesburg, Shanghai and Tokyo.

"By attracting an audience of billions, we hope Live Earth will launch a global campaign giving a critical mass of people around the world the tools they need to help solve the climate crisis," said Live Earth Co-Chair Vice President Al Gore. "But ultimately, corporations and governments must become global leaders taking decisive action to stop global warming."

Tickets for the show will be allocated via a ballot – applicants will be able to register from midday on Friday 13 April for the opportunity to buy a pair of tickets. Registration opens from midday on Friday 13th April until Monday 16th April at midday at www.livenation.co.uk/liveearth.
