The Edge's £8 million holiday home

Comments

U2 guitarist The Edge no longer has to worry about storage space for all those cowboy hats and delay pedals - he's just splashed out £8 million on a luxury mansion in the exclusive Malibu area of Los Angeles.

The vast pad boasts a cottage and a creek, and - unlike many celebrity homes in the area - affords a degree of privacy since it's tucked away in a canyon instead of being right on the Pacific beach front. However, if The Edge (real name Dave Evans) does choose to rub shoulders with the locals, he'll find that his new neighbours include Mel Gibson, Richard Gere, Barbra Streisand and Tom Hanks. Perhaps they'll all pop round for the housewarming.

Property in Malibu doesn't come cheap. Until recently Sting was renting a house on Malibu Colony Drive for a staggering $25,000 a month.

Still, the guitarist can be forgiven for treating himself. Last Saturday he raised over £1 million for victims of Hurricane Katrina by auctioning off his personal belongings, including a treasured 1975 Gibson Les Paul guitar.

Meanwhile, for no reason, here's some embarrassing footage of The Edge dancing like your dad, sidestage at New Orleans' Jazzfest in April 2006.

  • I thought of Edge as the "qiutest" and most "sensible" guy in the band. They say that one picture is 1000 words.Imagine what's happening now that you've got a whole video????Anyway sometimes it happens and in the best families.Edge we LOVE you:-)

  • 'They know that they can't dance - at least they know'. Still - this is probably the best dancing by a Dublin male ever to be captured on film. Edge rules!

  • Good One for the Edge. He deserves to settle down after so many years of giving us fans really really classic tracks. Should he continue for another 30 years, then I will back him all the way! Congrats to The Edge!
