A first look at Ian Curtis biopic, Control.
Youtube has thrown up the first clips of Control, the forthcoming biopic of Joy Division singer, Ian Curtis, who committed suicide on 18 May 1980.
In a clip obviously nabbed from Dutch TV, director Anton Corbijn, whose photographs were partly responsible for the band’s stark image, explains the genesis of the film. The footage of leading man Sam Riley suggests that he makes a convincing Curtis, even on stage.
Control, which premiered at the Cannes film festival earlier this month, will be released in the UK in the autumn.
