The greatest pop record ever?

Comments

We were pleasantly surprised this morning (4 May) to find The Guardian had devoted a full-page lead review to a massively obscure UK pop duo called Johnny Boy.

Johnny Boy caused a stir in 2004 with their majestic, Spector-esque single You Were the Generation That Bought More Shoes and You Get What You Deserve. Reviews were ecstatic across the board. Johnny Marr called it "the best thing out all year." Search for the video on Youtube and the first comment is simply, "The greatest pop record ever made."

The single flopped upon its original release, but it's now resurfaced on the band's long-delayed debut album, released next week. Have a listen and judge for yourself...

  • I think it is true, the song is amazing, and despite it isnt a new song I still listen to it like something fantastic. If their album is comming, i hope to listen something even better.
