This time last year Calvin Harris was stacking shelves in Marks & Spencer. Now the 23-year old from Dumfries is gearing up for his second Top 10 single in a row with the The Girls, available to download from Monday (28 May).
Harris says: “Disco disappeared, didn’t it? Everyone got sick of it. Now I’m reviving it, with space goggles, or something.”
Hmm. Comments like that, plus his self-consciously 'edgy' publicity shots, mark him out as a bit of a Nathan Barley figure. Still, Harris is destined to be the sound of the summer, so get used to it...
