New Ryan Adams Tracks

Comments

Whenever Ryan Adams releases a new album, it's always trumpeted as "his best since Heartbreaker". At last, gasp the reviews, he's finally reined in his magpie tendencies and written a cohesive album of proper songs.

Well, this time he really has. Easy Tiger, out June 25, is a truly fabulous album, crammed with the kind of husky-voiced ballads on which Adams built his reputation. One of the best is Two, which finds the singer lamenting, 'It takes two when it used to take one' over a backdrop of gorgeous pedal steel and delicate harmonies courtesy of Sheryl Crow. Have a listen
here.

Meanwhile, here are our Top 5 Ryan Adams moments.

Sylvia Plath
“I wish I had a Sylvia Plath, busted tooth and a smile/And cigarette ashes in her drink.” Mmm, attractive.

My Winding Wheel
Performed, Arcade Fire-style, in the middle of the audience. Awesome.

So Alive
Utterly out of step with the rest of 2003’s Rock N Roll, So Alive was a stadium-sized anthem worthy of U2 at their mid-80s peak.

When The Stars Go Blue
One of the standout tracks from Gold. Here it is performed - with rather less sensitivity - by Bono and Andrea Corr.

To Be Young (Is To Be Sad, Is To be High)
One of his finest rockers, preceded here by some dubious drunken rambling about drugs, sex and barbecue chicken.

  • Hi, I study Multi Media Design in Denmark. Next year I will be starting my internship and have the choice of going abroad to work. This is not an application, but a question. Are Q4music.com interested in having a multi media student as myself work for them in the 2 months my internship lasts?

If so I can send an application detailing my work etc.

    Kind regards
    Arun Christensen

  • Hi Q,

I have been an avid Q fan for many years and thanks to yourselves I feel my music collection is pretty impressive.

Ryan Adams is by far the best song-writer out over the past years his songs speak to people about heartache, small towns in a way that most song simply try, the work over the past few years has again proven this fact but I have to keep asking myself why this artist is bigger in the UK because to me he is amazing live, on record and funny as, I for one can't wait for easy tiger in fact i have already pre-ordered it from Avalanche Records - Support your local record shop the treasures you can find are endless.
