The Envy Corps might hail from the tiny midwestern town of Ames, Iowa, but they are clearly owe a debt to the more serious, impassioned end of UK rock. There are shades of Matt Bellamy in frontman Luke Pettipoole's anguished vocals, but also a way with an understated melody that recalls Coldplay.
The Envy Corps also have friends in high places. In 2006, The Killers' Brandon Flowers contacted them to discuss the possibility of touring together. The foursome have since been signed to The Killers' label, Vertigo.
You'll be able to catch them live when they support Editors in the UK later this month. In the mean time, listen to their debut single Wires And Wool here. If you like what you hear, there's more on their Myspace.
