Bez: 'Crack cocaine's my speciality dish'

Comments

Happy Mondays are back in action with a fantastic new single, Jelly Bean. It's being hosted here.

To celebrate their return, Shaun Ryder and Bez took Q for an almighty piss-up at Manchester's Bar Fringe, during which Bez revealed that he enjoyed preparing crack cocaine at home in the microwave:

"It's me speciality dish. For a starter. I'm really good at that. Three to one mix. You don't need a recipe book for that. I got it off the internet."

The conversation then veered off at a bizarre tangent, with the pair claiming to be able to communicate telepathically.

"I can remember the first time we done it," explained Bez. "We'd just done [1986 single] Freaky Dancin', and we got home and we actually could telepathically talk to each other. Were we on drugs? Of course we were. We were taking large amounts of microdot acid. That doesn't mean you have to pooh-pooh it."

  • As part of my 'wasted' youth and similarly mind-expandingly brain fuelled way back in the sixties along with Syd we considered ourselves 'psychedelic rangers' around Cambridge. Out of it as 'heads' and 'freaks' in hip-hugging flared 'velvies', tie died shirts and whatnot I swapped bodies once or twice with my close mate Pete, never mind the telepathic bit, that became ordinary. It was quite alarming first time, fist trip too, and a relief to come down and home after timeless hours to be in my own customary body again.
Try it. We are still close, despite his thirty years in Canada, only bloke to ever give me 10k to get out of a hole. Grandads now ha!
