The Isle Of Wight festival kicks off today. With performances from the likes of Muse and The Rolling Stones, it's sure to be a mammoth event... but it's scale is dwarfed by that of the 1970 festival, which is officially the biggest ever staged, with an attendance of over 600,000 - that's even more people than attended Woodstock the previous summer.
You can get a sense of the festival's vastness in this clip of Free performing their gigantic hit All Right Now, which had hit Number 1 in 20 countries since its release that May. It was the very high point of their career. After this, guitarist Paul Kossoff's drug addiction would start to poison relations within the band. Six years after Isle Of Wight he died of drug-related heart failure, aged just 25.
