Random list ahoy – misheard lyrics

Comments

We were listening to The Police’s So Lonely this morning and it reminded us of an episode of naff 70s/80s current affairs show Nationwide in which, in the name of following up an apparently serious viewer query, a whole 10 minutes was spent investigating whether Sting was, in fact, singing about the BBC’s Sue Lawley.

A quick straw poll round the office threw up a few more classic misheard lyrics.

Jimi Hendrix – Purple Haze
Original: “Excuse me, while I kiss the sky.”
Misheard: “Excuse me, while I kiss this guy.”

U2 – Mysterious Ways
Original: “She moves in mysterious ways.”
Misheard: “Shamu, the mysterious whale.”

Green Day - Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life)
Original: “Another turning point, a fork stuck in the road.”
Misheard: “Another turnip on a fork stuck in the road.”

Madonna - Erotic
Original: “Erotic, erotic- put your hands all over my body.”
Misheard: “Bill Oddie, Bill Oddie - put your hands all over my body.”

Madonna – La Isla Bonita
Original: “Last night I dreamt of San Pedro.”
Misheard: “Last night I dreamt of some dago.”

AC/DC – Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap
Original: “Dirty deeds and they’re done dirt cheap.”
Misheard: “Dirty deeds and they’re done with sheep.”

Nirvana – Smells Like Teen Spirit
Original: “Here we are now, entertain us.”
Misheard: “Here we are now, in containers.”

Metallica – One
Original: “Tied to machines that make me be.”
Misheard: “Tied to machines that make me pee.”

Chumbawamba – Chumbawamba
Original: “I get knocked down, but I get up again.”
Misheard: “I got no towel, but I got underpants.”

  • californication by the chillis

"first born in a caul" instead of "first born unicorn" .

when i first heard this i thought my version was great cos coming from a family of trawlermen if you are born in a caul,( the lining of the womb), it means that you will never drown.
