When North London indie mob The Holloways' debut album So This Is Great Britain emerged in October last year, most people dismissed them as just another gang of ramshackle Libertines clones.
Then Generator happened. Fast shaping up to be the airplay phenomenon of 2007, the song's winning chorus hook and life-affirming, look-on-the-bright-side message ("May I remind you/ That you don't live in poverty/You got your youth/And you got food in your belly") makes it the perfect summer anthem.
Last week Generator was the second most played track on Radio 1, and it's even started to colonise the playlists of more conservative commercial stations such as Capital. Essentially it's this year's Chelsea Dagger - an all-conquering 'earworm' that conquers the mainstream, despite its authors being the kind of average-looking blokes who wouldn't look out of place on a building site.
This week Generator is being re-released as a single - expect it to chart highly on Sunday... and expect to be thoroughly sick of it come the end of summer.
