Northern, doleful, and capable of finding moments of romance in mundane everyday details, Stephen Fretwell has much in common with another Q favourite, Sheffield crooner Richard Hawley. Both have albums out in September, and both deserve more mainstream attention than they’re currently getting.
Fretwell’s second album Man On The Roof sees him developing into a fine lyricist, with a keen eye for subtle details. Watch the video to quietly affecting lead single Scar right here.
