We were sceptical when we heard that a spoof of Johnny Cash biopic Walk The Line was in the pipeline. It’s hardly a film that cries out for lampooning.
Now we’ve seen the trailer for Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story, it all makes sense. Evidently, the Walk The Line stuff is incidental – it’s actually a broader piss-take of pompous rock hagiographies in general. And, since it’s written by Judd Atapow – one of the team behind Anchorman – you can be confident of a high gag-count.
Fast forward to 2.50 to see Jack White’s turn as a chop-socky Elvis, boasting, “I could chop a man in half!” to a baffled Dewey Cox. He film’s out January 2008. We can’t wait.
