It seems baggy revivalists The Twang were so aghast at their early media representation as lager-spraying, samurai sword-wielding hooligans, they’ve been reacting against it ever since.
First they covered Bran Van 3000’s languid dream-pop curio Drinking In La for the Radio 1 Est.1967 compilation – hardly an obvious choice for a gang of gobby Brummies – and now they’ve recorded an acoustic version of their new single Push The Ghosts, complete with a tender vocal from co-frontman Phil Etheridge, and subtly embellished by – wait for it – a string quartet.
It’ll be available as the lead track on the 7-inch and digital EP formats of the single from 26 November, but you can listen to it here right now.
You can also watch the video for the single – that's the non-acoustic version - here.
