“Jaymay” is 26-year-old Dylan obsessive Jamie Seerman, a New York singer-songwriter whose debut album Autumn Fallin’ is full of sad-eyed lyrical observations about love in the Big Apple.
Loosely speaking, it’s a concept album telling the story of a relationship that unravels as winter approaches. Sea Green See Blue is typical of the record’s autumnal, bittersweet mood, as Seerman’s pretty, hummed chorus dovetails with softly-plucked double bass to create a powerful sense of place: it’s easy to imagine yourself in some Manhattan coffee shop watching the leaves fall from the trees.
Autumn Fallin’ is out 12 November, and you can catch Jaymay on tour in the UK, supporting Teddy Thompson, later this month.
