Based in Washington DC, the seven members of Le Loup came together through the magic of the internet, after chief songwriter Sam Simkoff posted a 'musicians wanted' ad on Craigslist back in the Autumn of 2006.
After plenty of phone calls to weed out the nutters, plus auditions and rehearsals in his flat, by early 2007 Simkoff had the band together. He also had something special on his hands, the collective generating beguiling folk-rock that works the space between the quiet power of Sufjan Stevens and the multi-instrumental strangeness of the Arcade Fire. An excellent debut album, The Throne of the Third Heaven of the Nations' Millennium General Assembly was released earlier this year in the US and has just been licensed in the UK.
