Weirdest home-made cover versions

Comments

Having been transfixed by this footage of a "manualist" - ie a bloke who makes squelchy fart noises with his hands - playing note-perfect versions of heavy metal anthems, we thought we'd round up a few more bizarre homemade cover versions.

Video Killed The Radio Star
Playing Buggles’ pop classic on the notoriously difficult-to-master theremin presumably requires an enormous amount of skill and patience. It still sounds fucking rubbish, though.

I Am The Black Wizards
Not a song you’ll be familiar with unless you’re a fan of black metallers Emperor, but we feel the use of the kazoo here really captures the Norwegian band’s glowering, Satanic essence.

Creep
How to improve on Radiohead’s anthem of alienation? Why, recast it as a cotton-picking banjo number, that’s how.

Blitzkrieg Bop
Ever wondered what The Ramones would have sounded like had they all played the ukulele? Of course you have.

Clocks
It’s a testament to the nagging power of Chris Martin’s piano riff that it sounds instantly recognisable when played by a string quartet.
