KT Tunstall and Billy Bragg join forces to celebrate British music

Comments

KT Tunstall and Billy Bragg paired up for a special gig yesterday (18 February) at HMV’s flagship store on London’s Oxford Street.

The show, which coincided with Q and HMV’s poll to find the Greatest British Album Ever (see the results here), saw the two singer-songwriters play key songs from five decades of British music.

With only an hour to decide on a setlist and practice their chosen cover versions, the gig was an endearingly ramshackle affair, described by Bragg as “a lot of fun but dreadfully under-rehearsed.” It ended in celebratory mood, with Bragg dancing across the stage during a chaotic rendition of The Human League’s Don’t You Want Me.

The full set-list was as follows:

Cliff Richard – Move It
The Kinks – Waterloo Sunset
David Bowie – Ziggy Stardust [KT Tunstall solo]
Buzzcocks – Ever Fallen In Love (With Someone You Shouldn’t’ve) [Billy Bragg solo]
Morrissey – Every Day Is Like Sunday
The Verve – The Drugs Don’t Work
Kaiser Chiefs – I Predict A Riot
The Human League – Don’t You Want Me

You can watch a brief snippet of I Predict A Riot here.
