Amy Winehouse has been confirmed as one of the main acts for the Pyramid Stage at this year’s Glastonbury Festival. The singer, who was told last week that she will not face any charges over a video which allegedly showed her using drugs, will play immediately prior to Jay-Z on the Saturday night bill.
Organisers say they have ‘faith’ in Winehouse despite recent concerns about her personal life. Emily Eavis from the festival told Radio 1’s Newsbeat Winehouse would be ok to perform.
"I have total faith, I think she'll come and deliver,” she said. "This is one of the biggest sets of the summer, supporting the most anticipated artist at Glastonbury in the past 38 years."
Eavis added: “She is pretty reliable actually. It's her personal life and no-one really knows the extent of what she's up to and I don't think it should be public knowledge.”
The singer this week appeared in a video posted to YouTube (see Q4music.com’s Links Babylon!) in which she and Pete Doherty were seen playing with newly born mice.
And she recently appeared to have abandoned plans to record the theme song for the next 007 film Quantum Of Solace.
Also confirmed for the bill is Neil Diamond, whose career has been reinvented via his collaboration with producer Rick Rubin. Speaking about his role as this year's surprise turn, Diamond tells the July issue of Q: “I know it’s a huge festival, where people listen to music from morning to night. That’s why I’m doing it. It sounds like fun.”

Hmmmm - shall we start taking bets as to whether she'll turn up? That mice video was a little creepy - there's no way anyone can say she's kicked the drugs - i don't think she every will really, it's just not that easy.
Still the record company are glad of the publicity - her addiction is helping to shift millions of records!
