From hosting her own club night (Faded Glamour) to providing guest vocals and video appearances for the band Spearmint, QPM presenter Samanthi has been an obsessive music fan since her early teens.
While reading English and Philosophy at the University of Leeds she wrote about music for her student paper, as well as listings mags and local fanzines, but she soon buzzing to play the records and began presenting her own ‘Non-Stop Indie Pop Disco' on her student station.
Her next step was a daily show on Virgin Megastores' national in-store station VMR, interviewing bands such as Razorlight, The Charlatans, Futureheads and Rufus Wainwright. She joined London’s XFM in 2004, finding a regular spot on Sunday evenings.
Samanthi is also a presenter of BBC2’s Asian culture show Desi DNA, covering subjects ranging from film, music and fashion to the issue of skin lightening in the Asian community.
