Paul Weller - Echoes Around The Sun
It's like 1969 all over again as Paul Weller returns in a psych-garage stylee. Joined by old pals Noel Gallagher (who co-wrote the track) and Gem Archer, Weller moves into Hendrix/Stooges-like territory for this track Echoes Around The Sun, the b-side to new single Have You Made Up Your Mind, which is released on Monday, May 26.
The former Jam frontman - interviewed in the July issue of Q - turns 50 this year, a milestone birthday which fed into the new album, 22 Dreams. "It made me want to make something really special. I wanted to make an album with a beginning, a middle and an end," he said.
The album, which he says should be heard from start to finish in one sitting, promises a collision of "rock, funk, soul, free-jazz, krautrock, classical, spoken word, electronica".
