Weezer: Pork And Beans
Weezer have always rather unfairly had a touch of the novelty band in the mind of the wider listening public, thanks to the novelty-ish track Buddy Holly with its Happy Days video. It’s a shame because in the 14 years since the release of their debut album they have released an impressive catalogue (although never quite surpassing the supreme and sublime early track Jamie). Next month the band release their sixth album and their third to be eponymously titled (conveniently colour-coded for the consumer – blue, green and now red). The first taste of the album is the single Pork And Beans (released June 23), an anti-fashion statement set to those familiar chugging guitars “I don’t give a hoot about what you think,” sings Rivers Cuomo.
