Grohl handpicked Futureheads for Wembley

Comments

Futureheads were invited to play as support for Foo Fighters this weekend at the personal request of Dave Grohl, the band have revealed.

Ross Millard of the Sunderland band told Q Radio's QPM presenter Samanthi that they found out only three weeks before the Wembley Stadium shows that they were being lined up for the bill.

Ross said: "I went to see them (Foo Fighters) in Newcastle a good few months ago now. We went back and said hello cos we've played with them before and he said at the time 'we've got some big shows in the summer, you should come and to them'. And I was like 'oh right, aye - well if you ask, we'll be there'.

"Then time went by and and we didn't hear anything and it was literally about three weeks ago our agent rang up going 'oh Foo Fighters want you on - so we were like 'we'll be there'

The short notice meant they have had to sandwich the gigs between dates in Germany. "All our logistics have been thrown into disarray but all in the name of rock," Ross added.
