As the landscape of the industry continues to change, musicians have shown they no longer need record companies to survive or sell their music. Now we can see the industry no longer needs musicians. Check out this example of machines doing it for themselves.

Of course you have got to give them the basics first, but once they are shown the ropes they knock out those tricky solos again and again without a bum note. This robot was programmed to play John Coltrane's magnificent solo from Giant Steps - years of refining his improv chops funnelled into a note perfect rendition in perpetuity. Does it matter that you lose the human emotion?

Radiohead challenged fans to remix their track Nude. One of the most intriguing versions sees the track reinvented oinn old computer parts. A ZX Spectrum, a dot matrix printer, a bunch of hard drives and a scanner are all you need. Watch it here. Truly amazing.
