Q's ten best Youtube choices
Noel loves, Liam hates
We already know what Noel thinks of Jay-Z (alright, he was misquoted), but what else does he love and hate? These clips should be a source of worry for anyone in the following categories: goths, Green Day fans, shop assistants and the middle classes. Plus, in a rare moment of family unity, the brothers agree: they both despise Manchester United fans
The heavy-metal diet
If shovelling bacon into your mouth on the Atkins Diet failed to deliver the rapid weight loss you expected, try Gasket Orchid’s heavy-metal diet. You’ll need a quart of Jack Daniels, some quaaludes, a ounce of quality cocaine and “nature’s greatest piece of exercise equipment: a stripper”. Be careful, though: you could wake up dead – or, worse, in Whitesnake.
Jay-Z nukes Noel
Jay-Z, experienced in the art of the hip hop beef, wants the last word on Noel Gallagher. Appearing live with Kanye West, he drops a verse from his forthcoming Blueprint III album excoriating “that bloke from Oasis said I couldn’t play guitar/Someone should’ve told him I’m a fucking rockstar.” Your turn, Noel.
Ukulele at Tiffany’s
Deep Blue Something’s solitary hit Breakfast At Tiffany’s lives on in an inconceivably diverse selection of Youtube covers. Adelle The Great’s ukulele cover is the most tuneful, though she struggles to end the song. She does a take on The Bangles’ Manic Monday, too. Well, it keeps her off the streets.
The Hold Steady take TV
This appearance by Craig Finn’s band of Springsteen lovers gives David Letterman the chance to use a really terrible pun as he struggles to hold their album steady. Once his gooning is out of the way, the band race through an incendiary version of Sequestered In Memphis from their new album, Stay Positive.
Amy Winehouse goes to the dogs
We all know Amy Winehouse has been looking a little bit ropey recently, but even she hasn’t managed to look this ruff. As well as the big-haired poodle Winehouse impersonator, there’s a pink-leotard-wearing mutt Madonna and a pooch playing Elton John, whose bark is far worse than the great man’s bite.
Scroobius Pip Vs The X Factor
“How did you pass the audition?”, asks a frankly baffled Simon Cowell when faced by British rap sensations Dan Le Sac and Scroobius Pip. The panel didn’t enjoy their obscenity-laden rendition of It Ain’t No Fun by Snoop Dogg. Sharon Osbourne calls them “bizarre”, which is, quite frankly, rich coming from her.
Le Bon on Buzzcocks
In a classic clip from Never Mind The Buzzcocks, Simon Le Bon criticises Phill Jupitus’s moves. Asked if he’s aware of Duran Duran, Ian Dury replies: “I’ve seen ’em about”, while Jupitus thanks Le Bon for the video with women in nighties – which, of course, is where the band’s true genius lay.
Heaton’s home movies
Home video from 1987 reveals Paul Heaton’s hidden talent as a bowler, playing cricket with the Housemartins. Norman Cook – in his pre-Fatboy Slim phase –
also proves to be a fairly adequate wicket keeper. Paul claims he’s going to quit music in the next couple of years. Oh, the folly of youth!
Mike Skinner meets Muse
With their collaboration Who Knows Who all over the internet, Mike Skinner of
The Streets tries out for a new gig as the Parkinson of pop, interviewing Muse backstage at Wembley. Topics range from Mike’s “coke and models” phase to Muse’s gloriously overblown stage set and slightly psychotic fans.

The Gallagher ones are a hoot. I've never seen Liam so polite!
Cheers
