Track of the day: Babel

Babel - Make Your Bed
Dubbed free range folk with a dash of punk attitude, Bristol's Babel are on a quest for things that "aren't synthetic or disposable". Applying this ethic to their look, their sound and their Caxton-set record packaging, they release new single Make Your Bed on People Tree Records on September 8.

Taken from debut album Crooked Timber, due out October 13, in spite of its raucous tone, Make Your Bed is "about accepting that there are consequences to our actions," says frontman Danny Coughlan. "Which it seems in these days of endemic buck-passing, is becoming less and less of a concern."

Austere words indeed, and stark enough to suit the track's promotional clip, which was filmed one night in a broken workman's cabin in Bristol, lit by four disco lights and two flickering strip bulbs. Oh, the glamour. Watch it here at www.babelmusic.co.uk.
