Neimo - Poison The Chalice
There must be something dans l’eau. Just days after highlighting Paris’s Nelson, it’s the turn of their friends and fellow countrymen Neimo. You can get an idea where they are coming from when in their Myspace page they list as influences “many THE-named-groups” (although they rather strangely say they sound close to Boyz II Men).

The band were well-received at SXSW this year and recently signed to the Duke Spirit’s US label, although they have barely played in the UK thus far. Vocalist Bruno Dallesandro sings in English and there’s barely a hint of an accent.

At times you can hear the raw power of The Stooges, at others there are Smiths riffs, but on the lead track of forthcoming EP Poison the Chalice, the Antony Kiedis-like vocal inflections bring to mind more than a hint of the Chili Peppers, particularly in the glassy guitar sound.

Poison The Chalice is released on September 1 on download and you can hear it here.
