Track of the day: Tokyo Police Club

Tokyo Police Club - Graves
Tokyo Police Club formed little over three years ago forming from the ashes of other groups in their home town of Newmarket, Ontario. But their driving indie guitar thing has ensured they have made an immediate impact from the first track of the 2006 debut EP onwards.

Now proudly touring their debut album Elephant Shell – they are in the UK next week - and a support slot on a US arena tour with Weezer later this year to spread the word further.

“Meet me where, your mother lies, we'll dig graves on both her sides and lay ourselves inside,” sings vocalist Dave Monks on Graves. Hardly the cheeriest of tracks lyrically, but the frenetic pace and woo woo woo guitar sound lifts the mood of this Strokes-like nugget so you barely hear the references to blackened veins.

Graves is the ‘five day favourite’ on Q Radio’s QPM show throughout this week.
