Stars such as Sugababes, Sam Sparro and The Automatic (pictured) are to take cameo roles in a new internet drama which launches today on networking site Bebo.
Three to five minute episodes of the serial – set in the offices of Universal Records, whose acts will feature – will be added each day after The Secret World Of Sam King launches at 3pm on Wednesday August 6.
The daily updates follow the pattern set by other internet shows such as KateModern and Sofia’s World and Sam King is the result of the first deal of its kind between a major label and a networking site. Other acts confirmed to appear over the coming weeks include The Saturdays and Jonas Brothers.
Sponsorship deals with mobile companies such as Sony Ericsson and Virgin Mobile will see the show travel to music festivals including Ibiza Rocks and V, which are also sponsored by the firms.
Central character in the shows, Sam King, is an office junior who secretly sets up his own label in the Universal post room. The idea is to expose Universal acts to the potential 11.5 million Bebo users in the UK.
