And so the switch has been pulled. We could find out about the very origins of the universe - or we could have triggered the collapse of the planet, if doom-mongers are to be believed. In honour of the protons which have just made their first circuit of the 27-km long tunnel under the Alps as the Large Hadron Collider was activated in the world’s largest physics experiment, here is a selection of topical tunes.
