Laconic cult musician Stephin Merritt, frontman of Magnetic Fields, has been immortalised in footwear.
French shoe company Bluedy has created a new shoe design called the 'Stephin', which is due to go on sale this month. The firm reckons he is Merritt's 1999 album 69 Love Songs with Magnetic Fields is the most beautiful album of the 20th century and inspired this homage.
Merritt, who played a session for Q Radio this summer as he toured his latest album Distortion, is a prolific artist who also records under the pseudonyms Future Bible Heroes, The Gothic Archies, and The 6ths, together with soundtracks and an album to accompany the Lemony Snicket books.
