Track of the day: Frightened Rabbit

Frightened Rabbit - I Feel Better
Frightened Rabbit has its roots as a solo project for frontman Scott Hutchinson in 2003, who gigged alone as a support act and played everything on early four-track recordings.

The line-up was expanded over subsequent years and the band, signed to Fat Cat Records, is now two albums into its career with I Feel Better taken from this year’s polished The Midnight Organ Fight. A support slot with Death Cab For Cutie in November- and a current tour - will help to build the buzz.

Fired by a chirpy bass riff, I Feel Better is not a million miles from early New Order at their most upbeat, with Hutchinson whooping like a Scots-born Robert Smith. The urgent rhythm and packed sound is further fleshed out with horns and it’s hard to believe they pack it all into just two minutes and 45 seconds.

I Feel Better is the 'five-day favourite' on Samanthi’s QPM show on Q Radio all this week. Tune in from 6pm each day here to hear the show.
