Henrik - This Time
As diverse CVs go, Henrik Irgens’ is up there with the best of them. At times he is a session musician playing with the likes of Vanessa Carlton, Morcheeba and Bodyrockers; at others, he is a member of Jamie Scott And The Town, as well as churning out New Rose, White Riot and Another Girl, Another Planet five times a night as a member of Steve Lamacq’s punk karaoke band. Add to that a role as John Lennon in an M&Ms TV ad, plus doubling for David Tennant in Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire and roles in Extras and Run Fatboy Run (although probably best not to brag about the latter).
In the few spare moments he gets, the London-based Dane has also spent a couple of years working on a solo project which has produced the soon-to-be-released album Faction, a work of understated beauty which he says should be heard at “low volumes”. First single This Time is whimsical and atmospheric, the aural equivalent of a wisp of smoke slowly dissipating in a still room.
Faction was recorded over a two-year period and produced by Giles Martin – son of Beatles supreme Sir George – on characterful vintage keyboards and his “trusty old Mac”. “The album is a bit like a soundtrack, to be used as wallpaper or as an ingredient in your environment,” says Henrik.
